AIQI Webinar Recording Now Available: ISO/IEC 42006 and the Certification of AI Management Systems
The AIQI Consortium is pleased to share the recording of its recent webinar on ISO/IEC 42006, providing those who were unable to attend with the opportunity to explore this standard and its role in supporting the certification of artificial intelligence management systems.
The session brought together both standards development expertise and practical certification experience, offering a well-rounded perspective on how ISO/IEC 42006 underpins the delivery of credible and consistent audits against ISO/IEC 42001.
Susanne Kuch, who led the development of ISO/IEC 42006 within ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 42, outlined the purpose and positioning of the standard within the wider AI assurance landscape. Her contribution highlighted how the standard is designed to ensure that certification bodies operate with the necessary competence, structure, and impartiality when assessing AI management systems, reinforcing trust in certification outcomes.
This was complemented by Trushali Doshi of BSI, who provided a practical perspective from a certification body actively implementing the standard. Her insights focused on how ISO/IEC 42006 is shaping audit approaches, influencing auditor competence requirements, and being integrated into existing certification operations. The discussion illustrated the real-world considerations certification bodies are addressing as they begin to deliver ISO/IEC 42001 audits at scale.
The webinar concluded with a panel discussion chaired by Adam Leon Smith, which drew together key themes from both presentations. The conversation reflected on the growing importance of robust AI assurance, the challenges of applying new standards in practice, and the need for consistency across the global quality infrastructure as adoption accelerates.
Overall, the session reinforced the critical role that ISO/IEC 42006 plays in enabling trustworthy certification of AI management systems, acting as a bridge between the requirements of ISO/IEC 42001 and the operational realities of certification bodies.
The full recording of the webinar is now available and can be accessed via the link below. It provides valuable insight for certification bodies, accreditation bodies, auditors, and organisations seeking to understand how AI management system certification is evolving in practice.
