Unlocking Trust in AI
ISO/IEC 42001 Certification in Practice
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in our societies, so does the urgency to ensure its governed responsibly, transparently, and in line with international standards. To help organisations navigate this new landscape, the AIQI Consortium hosted a webinar on ISO/IEC 42001 — the world’s first standard for AI management systems.
The session brought together leading voices from across the certification ecosystem to explore what ISO/IEC 42001 looks like in real-world implementation. The event opened with insights from TÜV SÜD’s Dr. Ibrahim Halfaoui, who gave a detailed breakdown of the certification process using a recent audit with Swiss AI firm Unique as a case study. He highlighted how ISO/IEC 42001 offers a structured path to govern AI, manage its risks, and align with evolving regulations like the EU AI Act.
Michael Dreher and Daylan Araz from Unique shared their journey — from gap analysis and internal alignment to completing one of Europe’s first ISO/IEC 42001 certifications. Their story illustrated how certification isn't just a compliance milestone, but a catalyst for deeper AI governance, competitive differentiation, and trust-building with financial clients.
Michal Cichocki of SGS added a global perspective, sharing how organisations across industries are embracing certification as a mark of assurance and leadership in responsible AI. Dr. Leif-Nissen Lundbæk from Noxtua closed the speaker line-up with reflections on why sovereign AI developers, especially in the legal sector, are turning to ISO/IEC 42001 to underpin trust and credibility.
Whether you're preparing for certification, seeking practical insight into AI governance, or simply curious about how others are tackling the challenge, this session is packed with valuable knowledge.
